Raw Materials

The following plastics products have had success in our business and with many of our clients.  This is a guide to assist you in ordering graphics on the material that is best suited for your projects, or help with ordering raw materials.  The manufacturing options available for each material is listed below.

For a listing of the latest raw materials available for sale, visit our Shop.

Check back often – Available materials and pricing change frequently.

If there is a raw material that you would like us to carry, drop us an e-mail with information on the manufacturer, material specifications and expected needs.   We purchase our raw materials from the major suppliers in the industry and often serve as a testing ground for many new materials and techniques.

PBT – A very common and affordable material offered by many manufacturers in various thicknesses and finishes. The material consists of a 2-layer polyester cap surface film and a fleece backing on the bond surface.  Typically used for snowboard cap construction and various watersports products. The majority of our inventory and printing requests are for a gloss surface, however matte and custom textures are available.  The reverse surface is embedded with a polyester fleece to enhance bonding.  Some manufacturers vary on the different fleece backings available.  If you have any questions feel free to contact us.

We typically carry a thickness of .45/.50mm (approximately 18 mil US), and .60mm (24 mil) for the snowboard industry from either LA/ES or Isosport.  For watersports products such as wakeboards and kiteboards, we try to carry a .45/50mm gloss in a 18-20′ width from Isosport and 14 and 16 mil pbt in both gloss or matte from Transilwrap.

We have been looking at stocking pbt in textures.  Presently we are carrying an Isopsport pbt with the Pi02 texture.

Graphic processes: Sublimation – some pbt can be top printed with special epoxies.

Uses: snowboard tops, water and snow ski tops; wakeboard, kiteboard and skimboard tops or bottoms.

White Nylon – We carry two kinds of white nylon from Isosport for sublimation.  Both have a gloss finish.  8292 is a white nylon with flame treated fleece backing for bonding.  It is a favorite of our larger volume snow ski builders.  8100 is Isosport's top-of-the-line gloss white nylon finished with fleece on the bonding surface.

Graphic processes: Sublimation – can be top printed with special epoxies.

Uses: snowboard tops, water and snow ski tops, skateboard bases, wakeboard, kiteboard and skimboard tops or bottoms.

Clear Nylon – We carry one kind of clear nylon in a variety of finishes.  Isosport 8210 is probably the most requested clear nylon on the market.  It is a co-extruded poly-amid that can be both sublimated or directly printed with epoxy…or both!  For snow sports tops it is produced in a .50-.60mm thickness and a .30mm thickness for watersports.  8210 is available in a variety of finishes.  Our best sellers are gloss and the Pi19 finish. Check our shop for material availability as we will be expanding the finishes available.  Samples of some are below:

Graphic processes: Sublimation and direct epoxy printing on either the top or bonding surface.

Uses: snowboard tops, water and snow ski tops; wakeboard, kiteboard and skimboard tops or bottoms.

Crown Durasurf: Crown makes a few versions of their Durasurf product for the snow and watersports industries.  Crown base is a standard in the industry for snowboards and snow skis.  A thinner version can be used for ski and snowboard tops as well as kite and wakeboard bases or tops.

Graphic processes: Epoxy printing

Uses: snowboard tops, snow ski tops; wakeboard, kiteboard and skimboard tops or bottoms.

UVR – Two popular versions of UVR are available to the watersports industry…matte and gloss.  Special textures are also available.  UVR is a UV Resistant material made by LA/ES that bonds and molds well.

Graphic processes: Sublimation and/or epoxy printing

Uses: Skateboard bases, wakeboard, kiteboard and skimboard tops or bottoms

4060 – CPS of Germany makes a unique product that has found a home in the watersports industry. 4060 is a low temperature product that can only be printed with epoxy.  It is perhaps the most optically clear plastic on the market, and it is very unique that it has to undergo board construction at what is considered a very low temperature.  This material is not for everybody, but those that master the construction love it.  It is the sought after product in Europe for wakeboard and kiteboard production.

Graphic processes: Epoxy printing…top or bond side .

Uses: water ski tops; wakeboard, kiteboard and skimboard tops or bottoms.

Fisher Fabric – A structured (weaved) polyester fabric used for sublimation of graphics in the construction of various resin based products.  Used often in areas that required a product to work around heavy contours such as water ski bases.

Graphic processes: Sublimation

Uses: Wakeboard, kiteboard and skimboardtop or base and waterski bases.

Nexus – A spun bound polyester fabric used for sublimation of graphics in the construction of various resin based products.  Used often in areas that required a product to work around heavy contours such as water ski bases.

Graphic processes: Sublimation

Uses: Wakeboard, kiteboard and skimboardtop or base and waterski bases.
